Yangon’s real estate market is experiencing a significant upturn, driven by the increasing number of people moving to the city for various reasons, according to Daw Myat Mo Mo, chairwoman of the Yangon Region Real Estate Services Association. This surge in migration has fueled both the buying and rental sectors, making real estate one of the city’s most dynamic industries.

The rental market, in particular, has remained strong, with a growing number of temporary migrants seeking accommodation in Yangon. The demand for rental properties has surged, leading to increased rental prices in some areas. As the population density rises in six key townships, land availability is becoming scarce, prompting property seekers to explore opportunities in new townships where land remains accessible.
This shift in real estate dynamics has also heightened the importance of professional real estate services. Daw Myat Mo Mo emphasized that the role of real estate agents has become crucial in facilitating property transactions. In response, the Yangon Region Real Estate Services Association has implemented certification programs to ensure that agents are well-trained and qualified, enhancing the credibility and efficiency of the industry.

With these developments, Yangon’s real estate market is expected to continue its upward trend, presenting new opportunities for investors, homeowners, and real estate professionals alike. As the city expands, strategic urban planning and infrastructure development will play a key role in sustaining this growth.
